Steve-O-Gerst I'm attempting to find if there was any castle in normandy simply called "Bois, or Du Bois around 1328. Whenever I try to do a web search, I get about a thousand pages of WEB Dubois, which seems to crowd out everything I might actually be looking for.
Malc_Chr Coulldn't find anything either when I looked, but there is a Chateau de bois also called Chateau Vincennes If it's any help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Vincennes

I tried on another computer, and found something about a Bois-Thibideaux... Well, Th something anway, but now I can't find that on my home computer. I don't think it was actually built until after the 100 years war though.
You'd think with Bois being french for forest, there'd be a zillion castles with that word in their name.

Found several more on google when I searched for the words 'chateau' and 'bois', but none of those were in the region you specified.

Peter Your 'Vinncennes' is in the area known as Ile de France. Not too far from Paris, although it also lies somewhat south & east of Normandy. It was started about 1337, and there is a tower within the castle site known as 'La Tour de Bois'.
There are two other main castles in France that carry that name;
Bois - Ruffin
Bois - Thibault.
Though I haven't checked the area as yet.

Steve-O-Gerst Bois-Ruffin Sounds like it might have been around in the time period I'm wondering about. Seems like the only thing about it on the net is the little blurb on he bottom of this page, that says it was a 12th century structure...

And of course, W.E.B. Du Boise seems to somehow also be a part of Bois Ruffin! Apparently when I type "Not" into my searches, the computer reads it as "Only"

Grande basse-cour avec batiments de ferme et ancienne chapelle. Un superbe exemple de readaptation d'une fortification de terre.

Bois Thibault
Chateau quadrangulaire flanque par trois circulaires a archeres-cononnieres et une tour maitresse rectangulaire, de la fin XV 's.
This one lies near the west coast, north of Rochelle.
